“Sisterhood” App Empowers Transgender Women in Thailand

Bangkok, Thailand (January 25, 2024) Marking a significant step towards inclusivity and gender equality, Thailand has launched the groundbreaking “Sisterhood” app – the first of its kind in the country specifically designed to empower and support transgender women. This innovative platform, developed by the Love Foundation with support from GILEAD, goes beyond a simple app; it’s a vibrant movement fostering connection, knowledge, and community.

The launch event, a celebration of diversity and strength, saw participation from distinguished figures like Miriam Otto, Chargé d’Affaires of the Netherlands, and Governor of Bangkok Chadchart Sitthiphan. The event also witnessed representatives from organizations dedicated to transgender inclusion, including Miss Tiffany Universe, Miss Fabulous Thailand, and Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand.

Sisterhood offers a safe space for users to engage in meaningful discussions, share stories, and access health information. It encourages community building by allowing users to upload updates, pictures, and share their daily experiences. This fosters a sense of belonging and support within the transgender and broader LGBTQIANs+ community.

“Sisterhood stands as a testament to the strength and diversity of genders in Thailand,” said the development team. “We’re dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive space for transgender women and the LGBTQIANs+ community to find identity affirmation and self-pride.”

More than just a technological advancement, Sisterhood is a crucial step towards a more inclusive and understanding Thailand. It empowers transgender women and the LGBTQIANs+ community by providing them with a platform for connection, information, and support. This launch marks a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards gender equality and acceptance.

Rules

  1. To participate, simply sign up for a membership through the Thaisisterhood.com website. Or download the application for both iOS and Android. Complete your membership application in full (*Incomplete messages will be considered incomplete memberships).
  2. The contest period is from December 25, 2022.
  3. After participants have registered at www.thaisisterhood.com and completed their details. We will compile a list of all participants, print out lottery tickets, and place them in a box for drawing. The winners will be drawn on May 30, 2024.
  4. The winners will be announced on the Thaisisterhood.com website on May 31, 2024.
